Project Management
AMS has core skills and expertise in project management to a wide variety of maritime projects, including:
- Remote and offshore construction
- Renovation of the wide range heritage listed structures
- Implementing innovative options for navigational aids and support structures
- Integration of new technology into maritime safety

Asset management information is vital to those authorities responsible for maritime safety assets. Decisions about investment, service delivery and maintenance depend on the quality of information provided. AMS understands the importance of management information and has developed its systems to ensure that key information is captured, analysed and presented to its customers. AMS has developed a complete management system for customers which includes Navaids databases, work program scheduling and performance statistics (KPI) recording. AMS has a range of standard inspection reports that cover the equipment and systems it services and maintains. Information is consolidated from inspection reports into a database for transfer to the customer’s IT system. Inspection reports and data formats can be customised to meet customer requirements.
AMS operates a rigorous system for recording, and analysing failures. A standard failure report format is used to gather relevant information and to provide a basis for applying corrective actions. Failure data and statistical analysis can be provided in a format to meet customer’s IT systems and any other requirements. AMS operates a defect reporting system that targets equipment problems that might not initially result in a failure. A standard defect reporting system
has been developed that enables analysis of defects and the application of preventive actions before problems lead to operational failures. Defect analysis and feedback assist us to select the most suitable equipment for application to the maritime environment. Trends and modifications are reported back to manufacturers to assist them in improving their products.

Heritage And Environmental Capability
HERITAGE
Many aids to navigation have historical significance and may be subject to heritage classification. AMS Staff have worked with personnel from the Heritage Commission, State and Federal Government Agencies and other stakeholders to develop Conservation and Management plans for many historically significant Maritime Safety Assets. AMS Staff understand the special nature of heritage classified assets and are conversant with maintenance practices applied to such structures. Our attention to detail and appreciation of the significance of various Maritime Safety Assets ensures the environmental and heritage sensitivities are effectively managed which enables the customer to avoid costly and potentially embarrassing misunderstandings during repair and renovation projects.
ENVIRONMENT
Most aids to navigation are in environmentally sensitive areas that might be subject to damage through inappropriate service regimes. AMS personnel are environmentally aware and are experienced in structuring activities around environmental constraints. Our staff are well regarded by the custodians of many environmentally sensitive areas and AMS is committed to maintaining a sound relationship with them.
AMS has adapted its servicing, maintenance, construction & project management techniques to ensure that environmental impact is minimal and that processes are correctly developed, implemented and monitored in environmentally sensitive areas. Our quality system includes procedures for regulating environmental aspects of our operations and we are currently seeking certification to ISO14001 “Environmental Management” as verification of our performance.
